Weekend Workshop Special Effects Halloween Makeup Class Saturday and Sunday, October 20-21, 2025 11:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m Tuition: $120 Your Personal Kit $80 includes tools and materials valued at $150 Total Investment: $200 In this workshop you'll have the opportunity to spend two afternoons learning the techniques and secrets for creating fabulous makeup, characters, and gore with products used by professionals in the entertainment industry. Students each receive a professional-grade beginning special effects makeup kit with all of the supplies you need to get started, included in the cost of the weekend. This course will teach you to make bruises, boils, cuts and gashes, road burn, bloody noses, black eyes, slit throats, protruding objects, burns, zombie skin. You'll learn how to combine latex with common household materials and cereals to get dimension and texture. We will sculpt and form your own, personally designed prosthetics. You'll use various tools and unusual sponges, also included in your kit. In addition to creating effects with makeup, participants will learn to design elements to adhere to the skin, make the molds to produce the elements, and use appropriate theatrical products. with these custom molds, to create prosthetics. Maggie learned to do special effects makeup when she owned Fright Night Scream Park, a haunted attraction, in Clovis. She was trained by the best artists in the industry, including: Bobbie Weiner, aka Bloody Mary, who did the frozen effects on actors in The Titanic the Wolfe Brothers, often called on to judge the annual International Face and Body Painting competition in Austria Mark Reid, famous for his body painting, creating the look of jeans on the models Bella Volen, world-renown, award-winning Austrian artist Dutch Bihary, famous from Skin Wars Besides the demonstrations, hands-on practice, and illustrations, you'll learn the best source to find more ideas and where to shop for professional grade products. You'll leave this workshop empowered with skills and ideas to make this Halloween the best ever.
Cancellation Policy
HEALTH AND SAFETY Classes are limited in size. Students who are sick should not attend a class. Safety policies are provided at the onset of each class. Please check the policies and safety menu tab on our website for complete guidelines for clay and glass safety. CLASS POLICIES Students reserve their spot in class by registering and prepaying. Use the email or phone number posted to contact the instructor. Classes will start on time. Please arrive 10 minutes early to be ready to begin. Pricing, dates, and times are subject to change. Students must adhere to Scarab health and safety guidelines, link below. CANCELLATION POLICY ** Scarab Cancellation Scarab reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled participants will be notified a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Students will be given the option of rescheduling at a later date or receiving a full refund. ** Student Cancellation Procedure All cancellation must be requested in writing, by email, to ScarabCreativeArts@gmail.com. STUDENT CANCELLATION OF A CLASS OR WORKSHOP TAUGHT BY A LOCAL ARTIST Students may cancel up to 7 days in advance to receive a refund, which will be given as a credit towards another class. A $25 cancellation fee will be charged. If a student withdraws from a class less than 7 days prior to the class starting, the tuition may be forfeited in full. PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY Entry into Scarab Creative Arts and participation in any class, workshop, or event constitutes permission for Scarab Creative Arts to photograph anyone while on the premises and to use the resulting pictures for any lawful purpose, in any media, without compensation to the individual. Students and guests my request to be exempted from the photography policy. Please submit the written request using the email: ScarabCreativeArts@gmail.com. We may be able to remove your image from advertising if you don't want it used but you neglected to make the request in advance.
